The Prime Minister, Head of Government Chief, Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, proceeded to its inauguration on May 10, 2023, on behalf of the President of the Republic in the presence of many other members of government, diplomats, local elected officials and many partners and actors of civil aviation including the Regional Director of the ICAO Office for West and Central Africa Mr ZO'O MINTO'O Prosper.
In his speech, the Prime Minister, Head of Government welcomed this achievement in view of the opportunities it offers. For him, this school brings Cameroon in line with international norms and standards in the field. Beyond the building, he said he was impressed by the quality of the equipment including the flight simulation room. He, therefore, invited the CCAA management to intensify communication on the available training.
For the Head of Government, the opening of this school is in line with the will of the Head of State to work for the development of the air transport sector, with an emphasis on the renewal of infrastructure.
According to the Director General of the Aviation Authority, Paule AVOMO ASSOUMOU, this training school was created in 2016 by a resolution of the Board of Directors to meet the pressing needs of acquiring and strengthening the skills of aviation personnel, in order to in line with the practices observed in countries with developed aviation systems. And above all, in order to meet the challenges of increased needs for qualified aviation personnel in view of specific industry forecasts such as that of the aircraft manufacturer Boeing, which projects that Africa will need 20,000 additional pilots, 21,000 aircraft maintenance technicians and 26,000 flight personnel by 2040.

Built on an area of 1630 m2, this beautiful building stands proudly at the entrance of the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport and has many classrooms, workshops for practice and a simulation room with Boeing 737 cabin equipment.
The official inauguration of this CCAA Training School thus marks a big step forward for the civil aviation sector in Cameroon. Its mission is mainly to contribute to the maintenance and development of the skills of professionals in the aviation industry. And in the long run, as its top management insists: "to make this school a pole of development of skills in civil aviation in Africa".
In its six years of existence, the EFO has already issued nearly 5,000 certificates and attestations of completion of training to many learners from several African countries (Cameroon, Gabon, Kenya, Chad, etc. ...).

It should be noted that the EFO has many advantages, including access to nearly 400 standardised courses under the ICAO Trainair Plus Programme, the ICAO certification of its Douala training centre in civil aviation security training and the availability of state-of-the-art facilities to facilitate learning. EFO has three training centres in Yaounde, Douala and Garoua.
This emotional ceremony marks the beginning of a new era for the CCAA which wishes to make this school a flagship in civil aviation training in Central Africa.
