The female staff of the CCAA joined other Cameroonian women on March 08, 2009 to celebrate the 24th edition of the International women's day.
The excitement and delight that characterized this year's activities cannot be overemphasized. The CCAA women marched passed the 20th May Boulevard with a placard which read thus "The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority says no to violence against women and young girls" This message falls in line with this year's theme of the celebrations; "Men and women, together let's fight against violence on our women and children". Shortly after the march past, the C.C.A.A women gathered at a renowned restaurant in town where they debated on the theme of the celebrations and dinned together During the short talk guided by the Deputy Director of Administrative Affairs, Mrs Marthe Amama, the ladies named early marriages, interrupted education for the girl child in favour of the boys, and psychological violence against women at work among others, as some of the ways in which women are violated upon. Most of these problems as the theme rightly states can hârdly be resolved wthaut the support of our male counterparts. The man's role in this course therefore is important.
Mrs Marthe Amama crowned the talk by calling on the CCAA ladies to show proof of more solidarity as women sometimes are their own very nemesis. She illustrated this by quoted the example of female heads of work commissions who unscrupulously swindle per diems of their female subordinates. She also encouraged the ladies to pay more attention to the up bring of their girls but not at the expense of their boy children however. Prior to the short talk it is worth noting that the wife of the Director General of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority, Mrs SAMA Florence was given a standing ovation upon arrival in recognition of her constant company and support during Women's day celebrations at the CCAA She wished the ladies an enjoyable meal and cautioned a sainst excesses shortly after the meal was graced. Subsequent to the meal, the CCAA ladies danced to the tune of Bikutsi by artists like Lady Ponce and Majoie Ayi as well as classics from legendary Cameroonian artist Richard Bona.
Unlike previous years, the women of the CCAA did not limit activities among themselves. On the eve of the march past, the ladies participated in a friendly football march against the women of the Airports of Cameroon (ADC) after training for only 02 days. The lack of proper training somewhat justifies the scores of the encounter, 3-0 in favour of ADC after 90 minutes of play. Of the 03 goals scored during the match, 02 were authored by Pulcherie Ota Bela, jersey number 09 of the ADC team at the 7th minute and at the 63rd minute. Meanwhile, Hermine Mbia, jersey number 05 of ADC transformed a much contested penalty sanction in to a 2nd goal at the 15th minute,Speaking to his opponents ADC's coach shortly after the match, Dieudonné Nké, former coach of canon congratulated and encouraged the ladies of the CCAA to keep up with training for better results in the future. He thought the ladies could do better.
The CCAA ladies assistant coach Louis Paul BIBOU saw in this experience a rare type of victory even in the absence of goals. To him the girls performance was commensurate to the limited time they had for training. He congratulated them for staying afloat throughout the 90 minutes of the game and expressed optimism for better results during future matches ,provided the girls maintened a good level of interest in the game.
Talking about interest in football, the president of the Bureau of sports activities Joseph Ndoum disclosed to the CCAA news team that the ladies had requested the creation of this female football team. He said he was impressed by the ladies' athletic gestures after only two days of training and added that the BAS would keep assisting the ladies to improve the quality of female football at the CCAA.
Another vantage perspective of this football match is the fact that the ladies got to socialise with each Cher Through this shared expérience, close ties were established to share from best practices and further consolidate the position of the woman in the two companies; CCAA and ADC. The reception after the football match was grandiose and very much appreciated by the women. The 24th édition of women's day saw a first time interaction with the ladies of ADC and a pioneer workshop on the theme of the célébrations to the satisfaction of many. It also brought to the limelight the role of the man in assertin the right of the women in society as stated in the theme "Men and women, together lets fight again violence on our women and children " Sisterhood and gender unity are therefore the foremost themes that charactherized this year's celebrations. The entire staff of the CCAA ;men and women ,surely stand to gain by applying these lessons to their daily routines to achieved shared companies goals.
