Minister Ngalle Bibehe Jean Ernest Massina, outlined the main priorities of the New Year to the various heads of structures under the guardianship of the Ministry of Transport and to partners at the traditional New Year wishes ceremony Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Yaoundé Conference Centre.

The tone was set by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, Mr. SOH Jean Pierre, who gave a glowing review of the 2019 activities.

Then, the Minister of Transport took the floor first to congratulate his collaborators, officials and various transport partners for the work done in the various sectors and to lay out the main guidelines of the year 2020.

With regard to the CCAA, the Minister recommended that Director General Mrs. Paule Avomo Assoumou KOKI and her staff complete the certification process at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport, which stands as the only one with a one stop passenger checkpoint, acquired in 2019 and to start the certification process at Douala International Airport.

Within the framework of the rehabilitation of airports, the focus will be on completing the Douala project and launching the Garoua airport project, not forgetting to continue the implementation of actions to secure the airport areas. In this light the 2019 ordinance setting the standards for the design, construction and operation of airfields in Cameroon will serve as a guide in these rehabilitation projects.

In 2020, the CCAA will need to continue the necessary steps to sign air agreements with partner countries in order to further develop Cameroon's connectivity and service offers to travellers.

Also, special emphasis will be placed on the development of the skills of aviation personnel through the three centres of the CCAA Training School in Yaoundé, Garoua and that of Douala, which has been a certified ICAO centre since 2018.

The Minister also mentioned Cameroon's active participation in the 40th session of the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) from September 24 to October 4, 2019 in Montreal, Canada with the aim of establishing necessary professional relations for the development of the aviation sector in Cameroon.

The New Year wishes ceremony was solemn and very friendly. During this lively ceremony, 11 officers who distinguished themselves in 2019 received honorary distinctions.

It was a great opportunity for exchange between Cameroonian transport bosses and the minister.
