A Cameroonian delegation led by the Minister of Transport held consultations which led to the signing of a bilateral air agreement between Cameroon and the United Arab Emirates on March 10, 2020 in Dubai.

Upon their arrival on 07 March 2020, the Cameroonian side organized pre-consultations with experts from the General Civil Aviation Authority. It was a question of finalizing the outlines of the services agreement.

Then, the document finalized in English, French and Arabic, was signed on March 10, 2020, by the Minister of Transport of Cameroon, Mr. NGALLE BIBEHE Jean Ernest Masséna for the Cameroonian side and by the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, SULTAN BIN SAEED ALMANSOORI for the Emirati side.

This agreement shall take provisional effect upon signature. It will enter into force on receipt of written notification confirming the completion of the internal procedures required of the Contracting Parties.

It should be noted that the implementation of this cooperation framework will encourage fruitful commercial partnerships with the national airline of the country Emirates Airlines.

In the near future, therefore, we may witness an increase in cargo activity and passenger air traffic at our international hubs in Douala and Yaounde. Indeed, Emirates Airlines operates more than 3,600 flights per week.

Cameroonian skies are attracting more and more airlines, to date about twenty airlines, fifteen of which are African, serve the international airports of Douala and Yaounde. This represents a new opportunity to boost the economic growth of our country.

The stay in the Emirates will also have enabled the Cameroonian delegation to examine the possibilities of cooperation between the two national airlines and promote the opportunities available to Cameroon through the two presentations.

The Minister of Transport reiterated the willingness of the Cameroonian Head of State to strengthen cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in the field of aviation, through the conclusion of a commercial partnership agreement between Cameroon and the United Arab Emirates, with a view to taking advantage of the framework set by the agreement on air services.
