Election of the staff representative in the Board of Administrators

The election held on September 09, 2021 at the headquarters and at all airport commands. At the end of the ballot, Mr. DIM Clément, Head of the AVSEC/ICAO training centre, and AVSEC Acting Head at the Douala International Airport Command was elected.

It is worth mentioning that 688 CCAA staff, out of the 902 highly participated in this first election of their representative in the Board of Administrators, the decision-making body. This was in application of the provisions of Article 8, paragraph 2 of Decree No. 2018/174 of 09 April 2019 on the reorganisation and functioning of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), as well as the provisions of Article 17 of the CCAA's General Rules and Regulations.

Eight (08) candidates vyed for the position, and voting was done through a single ballot to ensure the complete anonymity of the voters. Each voter had to go to the polling station with their identity card in order to comply with voting practices. They chose the candidate of their choice in the polling booth before placing the envelope in the transparent ballot box. Voting by proxy and by SMS were also allowed.

 At the end of the ballot and after vote count, Mr DIM Clément won the elections with a score of 216 votes out of 688 voters, that is 30.68% of the validly cast votes. This means a participation rate of 78.22% in this election. There were also 16 invalid ballots and 204 abstentions.

According to the provisions of articles 107 and 108 of the CCAA's General Rules and Regulations, the elected representative will serve a three-year term, renewable once. As such, he will be in charge of collecting Staff's complaints from delegates, which will be submitted and defended during the different sessions of the Board of Administrators. It should be noted that the staff representative to the Board of Administrators will have to report on the conclusions of the discussions held by this body.

As a reminder, this is the second time that the CCAA staff has been represented to the Board of Administrators.
