Evaluation of reception conditions at the Bafoussam-Bamougoum airport

The Minister of Transport made a working visit to this airport infrastructure on November 3rd  2021 to assess all the arrangements for the reception of the delegations expected for the CAN TOTAL ENERGIES 2021 on this site.
After a warm welcome of the delegation of the Minister of Transport and his suite, by the Governor of the Western Region, the Director General of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority, the administrative officials and the local elected representatives, the guests of the day attended a presentation made by the Bafoussam airport commander. He focused on the airport's functionalities; the status of the follow-up of the recommendations of the CAF and the PRC's TASK FORCE; the actions carried out by the CCAA within the framework of bringing the airport up to standard and the CCAA's requests.
Thereafter, they made a tour of the airport infrastructures (runway, lighting, technical building, power plant, fire fighting vehicles, meteorological station) and of the passenger reception areas (hall, control post, commercial areas, boarding room, VIP lounge, etc.).
Speaking of its functionalities, the Bafoussam airport has a length of 2500 x 45 M, which can accommodate B737 type aircraft. It is equipped with navigational aids in good working condition, a power station and a brand new lighting system. The airport can accommodate aircraft during the day and by night.
It was noted that the recommendations of CAF and the Task Force were all followed.
Finally, a working session was organised. During this session, several recommendations were made to perfect all the specifics noted during the visit. The Minister of Transport insisted that everything should be ready before this great sporting event which starts in January 2022, his wish being that this airport space should be more festive and attractive for the pleasure of the delegations and the numerous travellers expected.
It should be noted that the Mayor of the city took the opportunity to present the mobility plan to manage the flow of people during the competition and some developments for the beautification of the airport.
The Minister of Transport said he was satisfied with the work that had been undertaken at the airport.
