ICAO Session: Cameroon delegation meets Qatar civil aviation officials in Montreal
On the sidelines of the second day of the session, the head of the Cameroonian delegation, the Minister of Transport, Mr. NGALLE BIBEHE Jean Ernest MASSENA, and the said delegation was received today, September 28, 2022, by the President of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Mohamed FALEH ALHAJRI, in their representation in Montreal.

This meeting followed a request from Qatar, which is among the countries seeking to fill positions at the headquarters of the Assembly.
During the meeting, the President of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority expressed his satisfaction at hosting the Cameroonian delegation and formally requested their support for their candidacy in the ICAO Council elections scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2022. He also presented the scholarship opportunities that Qatar offers to States through CAFAC.
On his part, the Minister of Transport first returned to the project of signing an air agreement between our two countries in 2019, which did not always prosper, even though all is set. He then requested for the national company Camair-Co to serve Qatar during the next World Cup, training and capacity-building staff in the transport sector. Of course, he also reassured the Qatari officials of Cameroon's support during the Council elections.
Finally, the Chairman of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority expressed hopes to sign the air agreement between our two countries by the first quarter of 2023 in DOHA.
It is worth noting that on September 28, 2022, the Executive and Administrative Committees met. The work focused on the declarations of the states, achievements during the last three years, and future prospects. More so, some states took the opportunity to solicit support for their candidacies. Some Pacific Island states used the Assembly to present their strategic aviation development plans for 2022-2030.
The ICAO has established a liaison office to support the actions of these states.
