17th meeting of the Steering Committee of the TSDP-Air Component

During this session on the 14th of December 2022, the committee members approved the Annual Budgeted Work Plan (ABWP) 2023 of the Management Unit of the Transport Sector Development Project (TSDP) - air component.
Indeed, the Annual Budgeted Work Plan (ABWP) of the TSDP-air component of 2023, is broken down into several actions that aim to provide our airports with functional and adequate equipment to manage crises, strengthen and facilitate patrols in all seasons, limit intrusions of unauthorized persons in the areas of airport operations, to limit runway crossings, to facilitate mobility and local development, and to bring equipment and infrastructure up to standard. Above all, the actions to be implemented in 2023 will contribute to the reinforcement of airport security and safety.
This will involve the acquisition and installation of communication equipment in the Emergency Operations Centres (EOC) of Yaounde-Nsimalen, Garoua, and Maroua-Salack; the purchase and installation of office furniture and computer equipment in the EOCs of Yaounde-Nsimalen, Garoua, and Maroua-Salack; the installation of video surveillance equipment in the international airports of Yaounde-Nsimalen, Douala, Garoua and Maroua-Salack the development of the patrol road and the rehabilitation of the security fence at Douala International Airport; the construction of the security fence at Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport; the realization of investments that will contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the local populations (Yaounde, Douala, and Maoua Salack); the finalization of the construction works of the Garoua and Maroua CDOUs, which are scheduled to be completed during the first quarter of 2023. In 2023, the PDST also plans to organize a civil aviation security exercise at the Yaoundé-Nsimalen International Airport CDOU to test the stakeholders in crisis management and meet the normative requirements in this area.
After the approval of the 2023 PTBA, the Procurement Plan (PPM) and the 2033 Financial Execution Plan of the TSP-Air Component were examined and approved.
As a reminder, it was on 20 April 2017 that the State of Cameroon and the World Bank signed a project financing agreement. It aims at strengthening safety and security in airports and achieving the objectives of compliance with international standards set by the ICAO. It is housed at the CCAA.
