The high-performance flight training device (FTD) simulator for commercial jet aircraft was recently presented to Prime Minister, Head of Government Chief, Dr Joseph Dion NGUTE by pioneers of piloting in Cameroon, at the inauguration of the CCAA Training School (EFO).
The FSTC, type-FTD simulator will enable the CCAA Training School (EFO) to reinforce the practical aspect of the training provided, and will undoubtedly contribute to improving the quality of training for aviation industry personnel in general, and airline operations personnel in particular.
The FTD is a ground-based training facility for flight personnel, capable of reproducing different flight conditions and aircraft command and control systems. The specific objective of this acquisition by the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) is to create a Boeing 737NG FULL flight simulation center within its Training School.
The creation of this flight simulation center in Africa, and more specifically in Cameroon, is aimed at improving the performance of the air transport sector in Central Africa. Currently, the CCAA's EFO is the only one in the central sub-region to have such equipment.
This is the result of the resilience contract signed between CCAA's top management and its staff some time ago. On May 10, 2023, during the official inauguration ceremony of this magnificent building, which proudly stands at the entrance to Yaoundé-Nsimalen international airport, the Prime Minister praised Mme the Director General for the quality of the Training School’s equipment.
With the acquisition of this FTD simulator for its Training School, the CCAA aims to become technically and commercially competitive, and to respond effectively to the many training offers that do not require a Full Flight Simulator (FFS) and/or all the constraints that often lead to recourse to Europe.
In her speech at the inauguration of the EFO, the Director General of the CCAA pointed out the shortcomings in Africa. She stressed that the Training School is a response to the growing need for qualified aviation personnel, given specific forecasts and projections for Africa by 2040.
This acquisition by the CCAA is a source of pride for Cameroon, as it contributes to developing civil aviation in Africa.
