Prosper ZO'O MINTO'O elected Director General of ASECNA.
The civil aviation expert was the Director of the ICAO Regional Office for West and Central Africa. He was chosen as the new Director General of the Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA), at the end of the 74th extraordinary session of the Agency's Committee of Ministers meeting held on September 27, 2024, in Dakar.

The new Director General will take office on January 1, 2025, for a term of office of four (04) years, renewable once. The new Director General of ASECNA, who is 64 years old, has almost 39 years experience in civil aviation and has also held other positions in the Africa and Indian Ocean region and various civil aviation bodies worldwide.
He is a civil aviation engineer who graduated from the Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ENAC) in Toulouse. He also holds an engineering degree in applied electronics from the Ecole Nationale des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) in Toulouse and from the Institut National Supérieur des Ingénieurs in Libreville.
He will succeed Mr Mohamed MOUSSA of Nigerian nationality, who has been in office since 2017 - two (02) terms.
ASECNA is an international public establishment governed by the Dakar Convention, which was revised in 2010 following its creation in Saint Louis, Senegal on December 12, 1959,
In an airspace covering 16,127,000 km2 (1.5 times the size of Europe), the Agency is responsible for
- providing en-route air navigation services in airspace, organising airspace and air routes by ICAO provisions, publishing aeronautical information, forecasting and transmitting aeronautical meteorological information.
- the definition of specifications relating to functions, systems and resources, as well as the procedures and working methods implemented, from the study and definition of specifications to the purchase, acceptance, installation, technical verification, maintenance in operational condition and operation of equipment and facilities, communication, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management systems as well as aeronautical meteorology, the implementation of a safety and quality management system, in compliance with the standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The outgoing Director General, Mr Mohamed MOUSSA, was congratulated by the Committee of Ministers for his great resilience in the face of difficulties and for the high level of performance achieved for the benefit of ASECNA and the development of African civil aviation during his time in office.
