24th and 25th meetings of the Steering and Monitoring Committee of the TSDP-Air Component

During these meetings, held on December 19 and 20, 2024, in Yaoundé,  the board chair and members of the Committee reviewed and approved the action program, financial execution, and budget for the Management Unit of the Transport Sector Development Project (TSDP) for the year 2025.

In the 24th session, the Committee conducted a field visit to evaluate the progress of the construction of the security fence at Yaoundé-Nsimalen International Airport. They also assessed the installation of security equipment and the construction status of the bridge on the airport bypass road. At the 25th session, the Committee examined and approved the 2025 action program, budget, and project execution plan.
In 2025, the focus will be on finalizing several key projects, including: 
- Development of the patrol road at Douala International Airport 
- Supply and installation of security equipment (such as video surveillance cameras, lighting columns, etc.) at Yaoundé International Airport
 - Construction of a new airport control centre at both Yaoundé and Douala International Airports 
- Installation of the security fence at Yaoundé-Nsimalen International Airport 
- Completion of certain works on the bridge over the bypass road
 - Finalization of the construction of the Garoua and Maroua Emergency Operations Centres (EOC).
These activities aim to enhance the safety and security of air transport in general while strengthening airport safety and security measures.
As the project approaches its closure, scheduled for the end of June 2025, the COPIL members urged the project team to make every effort to address these tasks promptly.
