Fourth ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) 2025 in Abu Dhabi
Madame Paule ASSOUMOU KOKI, Director General of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), has led a delegation to the fourth ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, a pivotal forum addressing aviation’s most pressing challenges.

The opening ceremony, a highlight of the event, was chaired by His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority, alongside Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the ICAO Council.
Under the theme “The Next Flight: Innovating for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” international experts convened to deliberate on critical issues shaping the sector’s future, including sustainable aviation, scaling sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, artificial intelligence (AI) integration, and innovative aviation training frameworks.
The CCAA delegation engaged with global peers to benchmark best practices adaptable to Cameroon’s context, particularly in advancing sustainable aviation policies, enhancing training programs at the CCAA Aviation Training School, and strengthening regional aeronautical cooperation.
In his keynote address, ICAO Council President Sciacchitano underscored that “across all 193 member states, ICAO standards and strategies are catalysts for economic growth, social progress, and environmental stewardship.”
A defining moment of the symposium was the formal presentation of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme ‘Full Member’ plaque to the CCAA Training School, accepted by Madame ASSOUMOU KOKI. This prestigious accolade recognizes her leadership in delivering high-quality, cost-effective aviation training tailored to Cameroon’s socio-economic realities within a state-of-the-art framework. ICAO’s endorsement highlights the CCAA’s pivotal role in elevating regional aviation competencies.
The symposium reaffirmed the urgency of cross-border collaboration to address aviation’s dual imperatives: innovation and sustainability. For Cameroon, the insights gained will inform policies to modernize its aviation sector while aligning with global standards.
