This award was presented to her during the 15th edition of the African Leadership Magazine "Persons of the Year" (POTY) awards, held on February 27 and 28, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.

Mrs. Paule Avomo Assoumou Koki, Director General of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), who was nominated in the "African Public Sector Leader of the Year" category, was honored with the African Aviation Regulatory Leadership Award.
The event was organized by the African Leadership Organization (ALO), publisher of African Leadership Magazine, a renowned platform dedicated to promoting excellence, innovation, and socioeconomic progress achieved by visionary African leaders and investors.
These distinctions were established to recognize individuals whose leadership is courageous enough to challenge conventional wisdom, create new perspectives, and advance the continent.

By highlighting leaders who redefine the field of possibilities and strengthen democracies, these awards also aim to inspire new generations of Africans to dream bigger and act boldly.

The 2026 edition, themed "Leadership for a New Africa: Forging Our Peace, Owning Our Narrative," was patronized by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana. The gathering brought together delegates from over 24 countries across various sectors, as well as prestigious former recipients such as the former President of Tanzania, Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, and the former Vice President of Liberia, Madam Jewel Taylor.

The event honored several eminent leaders and personalities from the African continent, including the former Ghanaian President, H.E. John Kufuor; the Vice President of Angola, H.E. Esperança da Costa; the Prime Minister of Lesotho, the Right Honorable Samuel Matekane; and the President of the National Assembly of Cape Verde, Dr. Austelino Tavares Correia.

Madame Assoumou Koki was recognized for her transformative leadership in aviation regulation, specifically for:
 -Strengthening regulatory oversight;
 -Improving the implementation of civil aviation safety and security standards;
 -Modernizing Cameroon's aeronautical ecosystem;
 -Active involvement in regional and international cooperation.

In her remarks, she expressed her profound gratitude to H.E. Paul Biya, President of the Republic of Cameroon, for his continued confidence. She also thanked the Government, through the Minister of Transport, and the CCAA Board of Directors for their support.

She dedicated this award to the more than 1,000 employees of the Civil Aviation Authority and the entire aviation community.

Reflecting on her career path, she emphasized that: "My successes have rarely been the result of a meticulously mapped out path, but rather the fruit of a continuous acceptance of risks to be mastered, guided by faith in God, service, learning, and integrity".

Her speech resonated as a powerful message on visionary leadership, capable of transforming uncertainties into opportunities for the progress of nations.
