140th Labour Day at the CCAA: A celebration of social dialogue and performance
The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority celebrated the 140th International Labour Day in style, on May 1, 2026, under the national theme: ‘Social dialogue and decent work: factors of peace, national cohesion and economic development of the company’.
A highly colourful ceremony took place around its senior management on that sunny afternoon of May 1, 2026 and across the various airport commands of the CCAA. Indeed, the staff demonstrated their loyalty and commitment to the company's ideals with great enthusiasm. Following the parade at Boulevard du 20 Mai in Yaoundé, the floor was given to the representative of the staff delegates and to the Director General.
In her address, the Director General praised the staff’s resilience and gave a glowing account of the collective achievements since May 2025. Notable these successes include:
-Safety and Security: The renewal of the ICAO certification for the AVSEC Training Centre in Douala.
-Infrastructure: The inauguration of the Emergency Operations Centre at Garoua International Airport and the ingenious refurbishment of Bamenda Airport.
-Governance: The maintenance of ISO 9001:2015 certification.
-International Influence: The election of the Director General as Vice-President of the 42nd ICAO Assembly and the signing of strategic partnerships with Canada and the United Arab Emirates, etc.
The Director General of the CCAA did not forget to mention the ongoing work on the new headquarters building, which is expected to be completed by 2027. She called on staff to demonstrate innovation, ingenuity and commitment, as seen in Bamenda, where in-house expertise proved its worth in a short time and at reduced cost. She concluded by urging every employee to make excellence a ‘second nature’, to continue building a safe and respected civil aviation sector in Cameroon.
Subsequently, a grand tribute was paid to last year’s retirees through testimonials and symbolic gifts in recognition of the excellent work carried out over several years within the CCAA.

This year’s FIT celebrations at the CCAA began with a variety of week-long activities: sporting events designed to strengthen team spirit, followed by a cultural and gastronomic day at headquarters showcasing the diversity of clothing and culinary traditions. Round table discussions and an open dialogue between senior management and staff demonstrated social dialogue within the CCAA. The festivities also included participation by contingents from various commands in regional parades, a Miss and Master fashion show in Douala, and other entertaining attractions.
A cake was also cut by the Director General, Mrs Paule Avomo Assoumou Koki, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr NGOLLE III Patrice Emmanuel, and served to all staff in celebration of the CCAA’s achievements in 2025.
