The Minister of Transport, Mr. Jean Ernest Massena Ngallé Bibehe, in his capacity as Chair of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee (CNS), presided over the Committee's first session of the year this Friday, August 21, 2026. The meeting took place at the CCAA Training School (EFO) in Nsimalen, in the presence of partner security administrations, including Mrs. Paule Assoumou Koki, Director General of the CCAA, who serves as Technical Secretary.

This session was convened following several high-profile events that placed heavy demands on the national aviation security framework, characterized by a significant surge in air traffic, passenger volume, and VIP movements. It also followed a full-scale aviation security crisis exercise conducted in Garoua, alongside numerous training modules and capacity-building initiatives led by the CCAA to bolster personnel across the aviation security continuum.

During the proceedings, members were briefed on these key developments, reviewed the current state of civil aviation security across Cameroon's airports, and examined the draft decree on the organization and operation of the civil aviation security crisis management framework.

The Committee lauded the transformative impact of the Transport Sector Development Project (PDST) on airport infrastructure and operations, expressing strong support for the launching of a second phase (PDST2). Furthermore, technical presentations confirmed that the state of civil aviation security across all national airports remains satisfactory, with zero major incidents recorded.

Building on this momentum, the Minister of Transport called upon all stakeholders to demonstrate unwavering commitment to protecting passengers, flight crews, facilities, infrastructure, and the general public against acts of unlawful interference. He urged enhanced cohesion, professionalism, and responsiveness to ensure national airport platforms remain fully safe and secure ahead of the upcoming ICAO safety audit, with the clear objective of achieving high compliance scores comparable to those previously attained by Cameroon in aviation security.
