The Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, Mr. Edgar Alain MEBE NGO'O, Statutory President of the National Civil Aviation Safety Committee, chaired this Wednesday 28th December 2016, the second regular meeting for the year 2016.

In his keynote speech, the Minister of Transport stated that civil aviation safety and security issues are central to the Government's concerns, which, as such, is constantly making efforts to improve all targeted objectives in the two areas cited.

In continuation, he recalled that Cameroon had recently been honored by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which offered her a distinction award called "the President's Certificate" to salute all efforts geared towards correcting Deficiencies in safety oversight, as well as in the effective implementation of applicable ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices. As a result, he expressed his determination and that of the Government to achieve the same safety performance.

As a reminder, ICAO conducted a civil aviation security audit in Cameroon in 2015. The audit of the latter has highlighted a rate of compliance with international safety standards by 63.80%! This performance will again be evaluated by June 2017.

It is in this perspective that the Minister of Transport, the statutory chairman of the CNS, has ordered all administrations and all actors involved in the safety chain to take all the necessary measures for an unfailing collaboration.
