Transport Minister Jean Ernest NGALLE BIBEHE presided over the work of this session on the consolidation and strengthening of the achievements of the operationalization of the new reorganization of the National Civil Aviation Security System, as established by Cameroon's National Civil Aviation Security Program (NCASP).

After Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport, the Douala International Airport has been hosting the CCAA's Airport Security Unit (ASU), which is in charge of the traditional missions of the security checks formerly carried out by the Police, Gendarmerie and Customs since July 8, 2019.

Security activities such as screening, access control and patrols are implemented by this unit while the competent services of the state by their prerogatives of public power must continue their missions of maintaining airport order, assessing the threats and risks, background checks, and background recognition, offences of police, arrest and the surge of offenders to the judiciary.

More so, as required by annex 9 Facilitation provisions, searches of passengers and their carry-on baggage will now take place at the one-stop screening checkpoint, located at the entrance to each departure lounge.

Other issues such as threat assessment and airport security situation, internationalization of ICAO amendments in regulation and the need to develop the National Air Transport Facilitation Program were on the agenda of the NCASC. All the entities and statutory members of this committee took part.

Recommendations for the implementation of practices aimed at strengthening the level of security at our national and international airports were made at the end of the work. It is a question of enhancing security to make Cameroon a safe destination, the Minister of Transport said in his closing note.
