During this session which took place on April 26, 2023, in Garoua, members of the said committee approved the monitoring-evaluation report of the Transport Sector Development Project (TSDP)-Air component for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2022.
It was also a question for the TSDP-Air component to make a physical presentation of the execution of its activities until December 31, 2022, to the members present.
Thus, among the contracts completed and received, we can note, in Yaounde, the development of the road bypassing the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport over a distance of 14.36 kilometres, with the passage of houses destroyed and rebuilt as part of the implementation of the summary resettlement plan SRP;  The construction of the Emergency Operations Centre at Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport, consisting of a three-storey building with a basement, built on a surface area of 1,796 m2; the economic asphalting of the patrol road and the rehabilitation of the security fence around the airport.
In Maroua, there is the construction of the Emergency Operations Centre, a two-storey building, built on a surface area of 2 hectares. This work is at 90% and should be completed shortly.
The construction site of the Garoua centre is almost completed and will be handed over soon.
In the register of socio-community infrastructures carried out for the benefit of the populations living in the vicinity of the airports of Yaounde-Nsimalen, Douala, Garoua and Maroua, we can mention classrooms, latrines, boreholes, the rehabilitation of health centres, the supply of white tables, desks and chairs.
On another level, several contracts are awaiting signature and some are being awarded. This is the case for the construction of some boreholes equipped with electric motors for the supply of water to local residents in Garoua; the development of the patrol road and the rehabilitation of the security fence at the Douala International Airport and the construction of the security fence at the Nsimalen Airport.
The members urged the management unit of the TSDP- air component to do everything possible to finalise the projects that are yet to be completed.
It should be noted that all these works were carried out within the framework of a financing agreement of 30 billion FCFA from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) granted to the State of Cameroon and retroceded to the Aviation Authority, the Executing Agency of the Air Component of the Transport Sector Development Project (TSDP). The Director General of the CCAA is the contracting authority for the works.
The objective of all these works was to reinforce safety and security in the 4 selected international airports in Cameroon (Douala; Yaounde; Garoua and Maroua), to achieve the objectives of compliance with the international safety and security standards set by ICAO and to reinforce the capacities of the CCAA in the planning, development and management of air transport.
This project will end on June 30, 2024.
