Cameroon's civil aviation regulatory body, the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), has successfully maintained its two ISO 9001/2015 certificates. The announcement was made at the end of follow-up audit No. 2, which took place at Bafoussam-Bamougoum airport and on the head office site from June 12 to 16, 2023.
In April 2021, the CCAA obtained two ISO 9001/2015 certifications, respectively for the supervision of civil aviation safety in Cameroon and for the provision of air navigation services at the Bafoussam Bamougoum airport.
These ISO 9001/2015 certificates are valid for three years. During the first two years, the SGS Certification Body will assess the compliance and effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) against the ISO 9001/2015 standard on an annual basis, and decide whether or not to maintain it, following the successful completion of follow-up audit No. 1 in 2022.
After conducting these surveillance audits from June 12 to 16, 2023 at Bafoussam-Bamougoum airport and on the head office site by the highly reputed Certification Body SGS, Mrs Rabiyatou HAYATOU, a certified auditor for this certification body, declared on June 16 that these two certificates have been renewed.
Through interviews and verifications, the SGS certification body confirmed that the QMS put in place by the CCAA in these two facilities continues to effectively meet the requirements of the ISO 9001/2015 international standard, in order to guarantee the quality of services offered to users at all times.
During this period of intense activity, staff at the Bafoussam airport and at the head office provided precise answers to the audit team's questions and demonstrated that the CCAA's QMS effectively meets the requirements of the ISO 9001/2015 international standard, in order to guarantee the quality of services offered to air transport users at all times.
At the end of the program, the findings and conclusions of the surveillance audit of the CCAA's QMS were presented on June 16, 2023, at the closing meeting chaired by Ms Avomo Assomo Paule spouse KOKI, the CCAA's Director General. The results of these audits confirmed that the CCAA's QMS meets the requirements of the ISO 9001/2015 standard, with zero major non-conformities noted and zero sensitive points, some minor non-conformities for the head office and the BAC.
The auditor congratulated the CCAA and recommended that it stay on course to quickly correct these minor shortcomings, with a view to the next renewal audit scheduled for 2024.
Satisfied with the results obtained by her institution, Mrs Avomo Assomo Paule spouse Koki congratulated all the workers for the efforts made to achieve this result and encouraged them to maintain this dynamism in this demanding sector of civil aviation and where excellence must always be sought for the great happiness of the many travellers and users. She recalled that the quality management system is a tool that contributes greatly to the improved implementation of aviation safety and security measures at airports, a guarantee of Cameroon's influence on the international scene.
By maintaining its ISO certificates, the CCAA has thus confirmed and honoured its position as the first institution in the sub-region to have obtained, by 2020, ISO 9001/2015 certification for the provision of air navigation services at a secondary airport and for the supervision of civil aviation safety.
