The Minister of Transport, Mr. Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE, revealed this on 1 February 2024 at the ceremony for the presentation of New Year wishes in which the structures under his authority, including the CCAA and other transport partners, took part.
The beautiful celebration of February 1, 2024 held at the conference room of the Yaoundé Convention Centre between hosts, the Minister of Transport, and the Minister Delegate had many guests including Dr NGOLLE III Patrice, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CCAA, Mrs AVOMO ASSOUMOU Paule, Director General of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority, Mr ALLABIRA MAMADOU, Deputy Director General of the CCAA and their collaborators.

This was an opportunity for the Secretary-General to take stock of the main actions carried out in 2023 in the air, maritime, rail, road and meteorological sub-sectors, as well as on the governance issue in 2023.
In general, despite some external factors, several actions were taken by various sectors. The Minister commended the Directors General for their efforts in achieving a satisfactory outcome for 2023. He urged them to improve their effectiveness and efficiency and re-energize their companies to tackle the airline industry's many challenges. Furthermore, he called for a greater commitment to making the Ministry of Transport a catalyst for economic and social growth in Cameroon.

The air transport sub-sector aims to make significant improvements in 2024. These include enhancing VHF coverage of the lower airspace and providing better meteorological services, especially at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport, which is hoped will gain Category 1 airport classification. Moreover, there are plans to continue modernizing airport infrastructures, such as the ongoing rehabilitation project of Douala airport, so that it can become a sub-regional hub. Also, there are plans to accelerate the rehabilitation of Garoua International Airport's runway.
The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) was tasked with the responsibility of increasing its oversight of the aviation sector to ensure the safety and security of the national airspace. In line with the President of the Republic's instructions, the CCAA will expedite the process leading up to the start of rehabilitation works at the secondary airports in Bertoua, Tiko, and Kribi.
The main challenge ahead is to rejuvenate the national airline and enhance its presence across Africa. The CCAA and the Cameroon Airport Company (ADC) were urged to continue supporting the star of Cameroon.
