In a context where aviation safety remains the global priority for civil aviation growth, the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) has organised a four-day training workshop from 24 to 27 September 2024 at the CCAA Training School in Yaoundé. The aim of this major event, which brought together more than 30 aviation safety inspectors, was to enhance their skills and equip them with the latest tools to improve the effectiveness of their work.

In her opening remarks, Mrs Paule Avomo Assoumou Koki, Director General of the CCAA, stressed that the workshop was of the utmost importance, ‘reflecting our constant commitment to equip our inspectors with the latest knowledge and tools to accomplish their essential mission: to ensure the rigorous supervision of aviation safety’.
The workshop programme, designed to encourage exchange and collaboration between inspectors, focused on :
Sharing experiences and best practices, allowing participants to benefit from the know-how of their peers and discuss the challenges encountered in the field.
Analysis of concrete cases, enabling inspectors to refine their analysis and their ability to make informed decisions.
Practical exercises and realistic simulations are organised to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired.
Several topics are covered, including
The roles and responsibilities of safety inspectors, with a reminder of the fundamentals of the job so that the issues can be better understood.
Methods for preparing and conducting audits, exploring tried and tested methods for conducting audits and inspections.
Familiarization with community aviation safety regulations currently being adopted, a major step forward in aviation safety for CEMAC Member States.
The drafting of audit and infringement reports.
At the end of this workshop, safety inspectors will be better equipped to carry out the main tasks assigned to them by the legislation and regulations in force, namely
carry out checks and inspections during the certification and monitoring of aeronautical operators, service providers, equipment and systems; and
investigate and record breaches of civil aviation laws and regulations.
This workshop was characterised by an innovative approach, encouraging exchanges and the sharing of experiences between peers, enabling each participant to benefit from the collective expertise while strengthening their collaboration to improve the aviation safety supervision system in Cameroon.
