From February 24 to 28, 2025, the CCAA Training Centre will host a major regional workshop on aviation safety in Central Africa as part of an initiative to harmonize safety regulations across the region.

This event, organized by the Agence de Supervision de la Sécurité Aérienne en Afrique Centrale (ASSA-AC) in collaboration with the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), aims to promote the new CEMAC aviation safety regulations.
Mrs. Paule Avomo Assoumou Koki, the Director General of the CCAA, opened the workshop by emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration to ensure aviation safety per international standards.
The workshop aims to:
- Popularize the new CEMAC regulatory framework, which will come into effect in August 2024.
- Equip CCAA and aviation industry experts with the knowledge to implement the new requirements.
During the workshop, there will be a strong emphasis on the Civil Aviation Code of CEMAC member states, as well as regulations that establish common rules for aviation safety. The topics to be covered include the following:
- The regulation on the organization and operation of ASSA-AC
- Implementing regulations
- Acceptable means of compliance
- Guidance material in the following areas:
- Flight crews
- Aircraft airworthiness and maintenance
- Aerodromes and ground aids
The workshop is conducted by experts from ASSA-AC alongside four specialists from the French Civil Aviation Authority, who will share their experiences transitioning from a national regulatory framework to European Community regulations.
Choosing Cameroon as the host country acknowledges its ongoing support for the harmonization of safety regulations within the CEMAC zone.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be familiar with the new regulatory requirements and will be equipped to contribute to their implementation in their respective organizations.
The opening ceremony allowed the two Directors General to express their gratitude to the Head of State of Cameroon, His Excellency Paul Biya, for his unwavering commitment to community integration in Central Africa.
