Leading a large delegation present at this ICAO innovation event, which is being held in Montreal from 21 to 22 September 2025, the Director General of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), Mrs. Paule Avomo Assoumou Koki, unveiled the content of “Equip4Safety,” a revolutionary digital platform for the acquisition of ground-based aeronautical equipment.
Officials welcomed at the CCAA exhibition booth
The presentation took place at a specially arranged exhibition booth, alongside other innovations.
The platform, which will operate using artificial intelligence, is a bold solution aimed at resolving a critical issue in the aviation sector: the difficulty developing countries face in accessing compliant equipment.
The “Equip4Safety” initiative captivated the attention of numerous visitors and officials, including the President of the ICAO Council, Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, and the ICAO Secretary General, Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, who paused at the CCAA booth during their tour of the exhibits. They received a warm welcome from the High Commissioner of Cameroon to Canada, Mr. Ngolle Ngwese Philip, the Director General of the CCAA, Mrs. Avomo Assoumou Koki, and the Representative of Cameroon to ICAO, Mr. Zoa Etoundi Engelbert. These officials praised the efforts made by Cameroon and reaffirmed their support for the country's commitment to guaranteeing ever-safer skies.

It should be noted that the “Equip4Safety” initiative is designed in the spirit of the ICAO “No Country Left Behind” Programme. It is a collaborative interface that connects airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, and air operators. Once implemented, the platform will facilitate the purchase, exchange, and sale of used equipment, thereby creating a virtuous circular economy.

“Equip4Safety” represents a major step towards a fairer and more equitable air transport sector, where safety is no longer a privilege but a universal reality. In an interconnected world, the security of one nation is the security of all nations.

Cameroon is thus making an international appeal for support for this initiative, which is designed to ensure that every country, regardless of its wealth, can contribute to a safer global airspace.

The three fundamental pillars of the project are:
 * Accessibility: The platform will open doors to compliant and reliable equipment for all countries, regardless of budget.
 * Reliability: Once fully implemented, artificial intelligence will act as a vigilant “digital guardian” to simplify compliance verification processes with ICAO standards.
 * Sustainability: “Equip4Safety” is an ecological and economic solution that will facilitate the reuse of safe equipment, allowing for the reduction of waste and contributing to a more sustainable future for aviation.
ICAO’s support has already been secured, and several States have already expressed strong interest, notably the United Arab Emirates, which intends to formalise its commitment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA).
“Equip4Safety” is much more than a simple platform; it is a collaborative ecosystem that, under the leadership of Mrs. Avomo Assoumou Koki, is gaining considerable momentum in making aviation safer and more efficient.
