The CCAA in collaboration with the Technical Advisor at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of BIR and the World Bank, has developed an Integrated Safety Improvement Project on Cameroon Airports (PIASA)

In accordance with high instructions from the President of the Republic following Article No. 002244 / MINT / CAB of 13 October 2016 on the enhancement of security at Cameroon airports, in view of the upcoming CAN 2019 and the ICAO confirmation audit of November 2017,

The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority, supported by the Technical Advisor at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of the Rapid Intervention Battalions and the World Bank, has developed an Integrated Safety Improvement Project on Cameroon Airports (PIASA).

This project comprises three components, Infrastructure, Material and Human.

The human face focuses on two actions, namely, the recruitment and training of CCAA security officers in order to quantitatively and qualitatively increase AVSEC services at airports.

On the basis of the GCE Advanced Level + 2 years of additional training, more than 3,000 applications were submitted to the CCAA.

At the end of the selection tests in Yaoundé and Douala, which included: a thorough medical examination, a physical test, a psych technical test and an interview, 158 candidates were selected.

On-the-job training takes place in two sites; Yaounde and Douala from the 02 May to the 02 August.

In Yaounde, the Mbankolo Institute for Petroleum Sciences and Management will host the trainees from 02 to 26 May 2017. Training curriculum is based on ICAO’s “Trainer” methodology.

The training is qualifying and evaluation of all candidates is done by a progression test with an average validation of 70%.

In Douala, courses will run from May 29 to July 31, 2017 with focus on fluoroscopic imaging and certification and will be taught by 04 National Instructors.

For the record, an opening ceremony was held on 2 May 2017 presided by the Director General of the CCAA, Mrs Paule AVOMO ASSOUMOU KOKI, abetted by the Deputy Director General, the Chairman of the Board of Administrators and The Technical Advisor at the Presidency, in charge of BIR. The Director General of the CCAA urged all trainees to be focused and serious throughout their training.
