On September 8, 2023, the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority organized an internal competitive exam for promotion to the rank of Screening Inspection Officers (SIO). The main objective of this action is to increase the number of officers who ensure the daily implementation of security measures at our airports.

Out of the 121 airport security officers who participated in this competition, only 70 will be selected at the end of the selection process.
These personnel will be added to the Screening Inspection Officers (SIO) who are already deployed at Yaoundé, Douala, Bafoussam, and Garoua airports. This will increase the number of officers and allow the operational units in the airports of Maroua, Garoua, and Ngaoundéré to open by the end of September 2023.
They will be responsible for day-to-day fluoroscopic analysis using X-ray scanners of carry-on baggage, hold baggage, cargo, and air mail. They will also use manual metal detectors, gantries, and other explosive detection equipment.
To qualify for the position of Screening Inspection Officer, the candidate must first have the rank of Principal Security Guard (PSG) and meet certain criteria: an availability rate of 80%, a low rate of repeated absence, good performance at work (average of 15/20 over the last two years), good behaviour, and physical fitness.
Subsequently, these officers take written tests and practical exams. Following the results, those selected will be trained in screening Inspection for 14 days and then will be certified.
It should be recalled that these new certified Screening Officers (SIO) are from the third promotion 3.0 of CCAA Airport Security Officers.
