The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), the government agency responsible for developing civil aviation in Cameroon, and Vallair, a Franco-Luxembourgish multidisciplinary specialist in MRO and mature aeronautical assets, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10 July 2024. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in aeronautical training, aircraft maintenance and dismantling, and workforce training and development.
This is the CCAA's endeavour to further enhance its Training School offers and address the global demand for qualified personnel in the fields of airworthiness, aircraft maintenance, and dismantling. In addition to enriching the curriculum of the CCAA Training School (EFO/CCAA), this agreement will foster the development of aviation skills and other profitable ventures in Cameroon.
"The CCAA has a world-class training centre for skills development and is accredited by ICAO, ACI and IATA. We have combined Vallair's worldwide reputation for aircraft maintenance and disassembly, maximising the life and value of aircraft, engines and components. Together, we will pass on knowledge and launch an ambitious and innovative programme that will also see Vallair's expertise replicated in Cameroon," said Grégoire Lebigot, Chairman of the Vallair Group.
The development of Cameroon's domestic airports, managed by the CCAA, is one of the points included in this MOU. Related activities, such as the recycling of end-of-life aircraft, could be carried out here. These activities will be beneficial to the national economy in terms of employment on the one hand, and financial income on the other.
Mrs Paule Avomo Assoumou épse Koki, Director General, added that " the CCAA operates several national airports, which provide fertile ground for setting up economically profitable and sustainable aircraft maintenance and dismantling operations. This partnership is an important opportunity to explore and implement a range of skills development activities jointly".
As a leading training centre in the Central African sub-region in particular, and on the African continent in general, the CCAA's Training School (EFO) will see its expertise strengthened, notably through the enrichment of courses delivered, as part of CAMRA training, which is a certification course for aircraft maintenance and recycling. Some EFO-CCAA trainees will also be able to go to Vallair's facilities for advanced modules or internships, with the possibility of hiring them there.
