First annual session of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee (NCASC)

Published: Thursday, 08 August 2024 18:07
The Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLÈ BIBÉHÈ, chaired the Committee’s proceedings on Wednesday, 7 August 2024, at the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) Training School, in the presence of its members. Among these members was Madame Paule ASSOUMOU KOKI, Director General of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority, who also serves as the Committee’s technical secretary.
Opening of the NCASC meeting
The agenda included a follow-up on the recommendations from the previous meeting, a review of aviation security at Cameroon’s airports, and several aspects of facilitation. Notably, this first session of the NCASC follows the publication of the audit results conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in October 2023. During this audit, Cameroon achieved a commendable compliance rate of 79.39% with the critical elements of the civil aviation security oversight system. This rate is above the regional and global averages, despite some shortcomings, particularly in facilitation. This gap will soon be closed with the imminent finalization of the national facilitation programme. These developments will enable our airports to meet international standards consistently.
The minister presiding at the NCASC
In his address, the Minister of Transport reiterated his gratitude to the NCASC members for their work to date and for the efforts made by all stakeholders to align our airports with global standards. He also urged them to strictly apply ICAO standards and to adhere to the established organisation, regulations, practices, and procedures to ensure the security of airport platforms.

In short, to do everything possible to guarantee the best conditions for passengers and users of airport facilities.
Above all, spare no effort in thwarting the illicit acts and threats the civil aviation sector continually faces.

This first 2024 session of the NCASC concluded on a positive note for all participants.
