Upon arrival from Malabo on August 16, 2025, Mr Juan Carlos Salazar was warmly welcomed at Yaoundé-Nsimalen Airport by Mrs Paule Assoumou Koki, Director General of the CCAA. A dinner was then held in his honour at the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé, attended by the Minister of Transport, Mr Ernest Masséna Ngallè Bibèhè.

During his few hours' transit, before he departed for Paris via Montreal, the Secretary General of ICAO and his entourage — consisting of the Vice-President of the ICAO Council, Mr. Stanislao Essono Angessomo, and the Director of the ICAO Regional Office for West and Central Africa (WACAF), Cameroonian-born Romain Ekoto — enjoyed the friendly dinner and lively discussions in the company of the Board Chairman of the CCAA, the representative of the Presidency of the Republic, of MINREX and the DGSN.
Before the toast, Minister Jean Ernest Ngallè Bibèhè expressed his deep gratitude to the august guest for ICAO's renewed recognition of Cameroon's significant contributions to civil aviation. He then referred to the Secretary-General's participation in the successful Regional Forum on Facilitation, held on March 2 and 3, 2025, in Yaoundé.
He concluded his remarks by wishing success to the 42nd ICAO General Assembly, scheduled from September 23 to October 5 2025 and expressed hope to see the ICAO Secretary General in Cameroon for the third time.
In return, the Secretary General of ICAO expressed his satisfaction with this warm welcome and with everything that is being done in the field of civil aviation in Cameroon. That is why he expressed the hope that Cameroon would make a significant contribution to the work of the General Assembly (AG) in September 2025, given its wealth of experience. The said AG is a forum where major innovative issues will be debated.
This stopover was another opportunity to demonstrate our country's hospitality and the decisive role played by our civil aviation on the international stage.
