CCAA launches on-site construction of headquarters building
The Yaoundé - Nsimalen airport zone has been chosen by the Board of Directors to host the headquarters building of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA).
Made up of four phases, the first of which is the construction of the Training Center and its accompanying facilities, this massive project will be a five-floor storey building (Ground Floor + 4) on a surface area of 3400 m2. It will bear classrooms, a library, a screening room, a refectory as well as a building with three floors on a surface area of 1000 m2 intended for the Air Search and Rescue Center, the VRD and some green space.
The second phase involves the construction of a hotel-type accommodation unit with a three-star standard in a ten-storey building with a capacity of 200 rooms.
The third phase will include the construction of a sports complex with multi-purpose playgrounds and an Olympic swimming pool. The fourth and final phase will be dedicated to the construction of the CCAA’s ultra-modern headquarters building.
It is worth noting that the 1st phase will be fully funded by the CCAA budget. As at now three contracts have been attributed namely: the contract concerning the works, attributed to CHINA SHANXI CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING (GROUP) CORP for an amount of 3 377 958 966 FCFA TTC, the contract for the control of the works, attributed to COMPETING BET for an amount of 126,276,498 CFA including taxes and modification No. 0125 to the said contract.
The Order of Service to start work was notified to the co-contractor on July 16, 2018 and the time limit for completion of work is 18 months.
Meantime fund sourcing continues, in view of financing the second, third and fourth phases of the project.
