The Minister of Transport, Mr. Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE, issued this call while outlining his ministerial department's 2026 priorities during the traditional New Year’s wishes ceremony. The event took place on January 26 at the Yaoundé Palais des Congrès, in the presence of various parastatal entities, trade unions, and other socio-professional groups from the transport sector.

The exchange of greetings between the Minister of Transport, the Minister Delegate to the Ministry of Transport, and their guests—including Dr. NGOLLE III Patrice, Board Chair of the CCAA; Mrs. AVOMO ASSOUMOU Paule, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA); Mr. ALLABIRA MAMADOU, Deputy Director General of the CCAA; and several of their collaborators—was held in a festive and convivial atmosphere, enlivened by performances from renowned Cameroonian artists and comedians.
Beyond the social gathering, the event focused on evaluating 2025 activities and strategic projections. Consequently, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, His Majesty MVEIMANI SOMBO AMBA, first presented the annual progress report, reviewing the significant actions and events that defined the various transport sub-sectors in 2025. He noted that despite exogenous constraints of the global economic context of 2025, the transport sector maintained its momentum, asserting itself as a strategic lever for competitiveness, regional integration, and structural economic transformation at both national and international levels.

Following this, the Minister presented the priority actions of his 2026 roadmap across all transport sub-sectors.
Regarding the aviation sub-sector specifically, the focus will be on intensifying the modernization of airport infrastructure to facilitate certification. In this regard, due diligence must continue in certifying the Douala International Airport to ensure it fulfills its role as a sub-regional hub. To this end, the Cameroon Airports Company (ADC) must implement the renovation project for the Douala passenger terminal, whilst the rehabilitation of the Garoua International Airport runway must also remain a priority. Furthermore, preliminary studies must be conducted in light of maturing of the project to construct a world-class airport in the Littoral region.
In the same vein, the CCAA has been called upon to strengthen the oversight of sector stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of national airspace. It must also accelerate the effective commencement of rehabilitation work on the secondary airports of Bertoua, Tiko, and Kribi, in accordance with the High Instructions of the Head of State.
Another major challenge for the aviation sub-sector will be the continued strategic recovery and the scaling up of operations for Camair-Co, supported and guided by all stakeholders, particularly the CCAA and ADC.
These priorities must be driven by the collective commitment of all transport sector actors to ensure the effective realization of the High Development Vision championed by the Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA, and implemented by the Government.
